The Reason For The Low Yield Of Mangoes This Year

Due to weather-related reasons, this year's mango yield has been unexpectedly low, as reported by the Department of Agriculture.

According to the information from the Department of Agriculture, approximately 2.5 million tons of mangoes were produced in the country during the 2020-21 fiscal year. Among them, the production of mangoes in the Chapainawabganj, Rajshahi, and Naogaon districts amounted to 948,000 tons.

Uttam Kumar Kabiraj, the additional deputy director of the Rajshahi Department of Agriculture, stated that usually, from November to the end of January, mango trees come into full bloom. However, mango production could have improved due to continuous rainfall, stormy weather, and cyclones during the current year's season. As a result, the quantity of mangoes harvested this year has decreased by approximately 30% compared to the previous year.
