Introduction

As the conflict in the Gaza Strip escalates, casualties are on the rise each day. In such instances, international companies supporting the Israeli army or government are being urged to stop buying their products.


Calls for boycotts are not a new concept in the Arab and Islamic regions. The topic has been heavily discussed over the years, focusing on economic and political angles.

A prominent sportswear and footwear company sponsoring the Israeli Football Association is among those targeted by this campaign due to its connections with teams situated on territories seized from Palestinians.

Various websites and social accounts have detailed extensive lists of brands calling for consumer boycotts across food items, cosmetics, clothing lines, restaurant chains, cafes, and supermarkets.

Further calls extend to boycotting American products due to U.S. political and military backing for Israel besides avoiding goods from Britain, France, Germany after their leaders expressed support following certain incidents linked with Israel.

Notably, many social media platforms have faced calls for collective boycott actions after users highlighted restrictions imposed on pro-Palestinian content. A dedicated mobile app facilitates cross-checking boycotted products for easy identification by consumers.


Supporters suggest showcasing alternatives emphasizing local product usage through social posts may drive demand shifts amid enforced boycott scenarios.

The debate spark caused disagreements among economists regarding potential outcomes arising out of the prolonged global company boycott movements amid already fragile economies within affected nations.
